History Mikasa

1917 turned out to be a landmark year, it became the year of the birth of the most famous brand in volleyball and water polo. It was in this year that a company appeared in Japan that gave the world the famous Mikasa balls - the official ones for volleyball, beach volleyball and water polo today.

Having gone from a small company Masuda Rubber Industry to Mikasa Corporation, which includes four subsidiaries in each part of the world, two of its own factories, a research complex and a design bureau, Mikasa still follows the mission of "High technology in the service of sports".

The company's history is full of great achievements. For the first time, the Mikasa ball took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964. The white 18-panel volleyball made of genuine leather VL200 turned out to be so good that it was replaced by the colored MVL200 only in 2000 at the Olympics in Sydney. The 2004 Athens Games gave the world the most popular volleyball to date, the MVP200. The ball was last improved for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. For the landmark year with the lucky number 8 for Japan, Mikasa introduced the revolutionary MVA200 model: a ball with eight curved panels, the surface of which provides a large contact area and allows maximum control of the game.

The beach volleyball ball debuted as an official Olympic ball in Atlanta in 1996. And since then, Mikasa has been the official beach volleyball ball at every Olympic Games. For the 2012 Olympics in London, Mikasa improved its best beach ball VLS200. The new VLS300 is made of a material that does not get wet at all, so the ball does not change its playing characteristics. And you can enjoy beach volleyball even in the rain.

Into the water polo pool The Olympic balls W6000 and W6009 were dipped in Moscow in 1980. In 2004, at the games in Athens, they were replaced by the W6000C and W6009C. The men's W6000W and women's W6009W are the official water polo balls at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and 2012 in London.

Mikasa is the official technical partner of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the International Swimming Federation (FINA). Since 2008, the company has been the official sponsor of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). All international competitions under the auspices of FIVB, CEV and FINA are held only with Mikasa balls.

Mikasa's basketball, football and handball balls are recognized as some of the best by the International Federations in these sports.

For Mikasa, it all started with a ball. But today it is also professional volleyball equipment. All Mikasa game and training uniforms are tested and approved by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
