History Atomic

The history of one of the leaders of the ski industry began in 1955 with a small production of wooden laminated skis. Today, ATOMIC factories produce alpine skis, cross-country skis, ski boots and poles.

In 1955, production of wooden skis, Wagrain, began.

In 1957, the Atomic trademark was registered. The production volume is 2 thousand pairs of skis per year. Industrial production began in 1966, and in 1968, a sports program was launched and the first Olympic gold medal was won (Olga Pall).

In 1971, a factory was opened in Altenmarkt, where ski production is concentrated. In 1977, 80% of the production of Dynamic skis was transferred to Altenmarkt. In 1982, production of ski poles began, and in 1987, production of cross-country skis.

1988 - purchase of the German company ESS, which produced ski bindings.

1989 - Koflach (ski bindings) are part of Atomic.

1992 - the appearance of Oxigen snowboards and boots.

In 1994, Atomic becomes part of the Amer Group (Finland). A serious modernization of production and restructuring of the company begins. 1996 - Beta technology is patented. In 1997, the first collection of Atomic ski boots was released, and in 1998 - bindings.

2001 - Atomic wins all 5 World Cups in alpine skiing for men, 4 of them under Hermann Maier (overall standings, downhill, super giant and giant slalom).

2003 - the beginning of the production of ski boots in Altenmarkt. The Volant company was purchased along with all its patents and technologies. 2005 - Atomic skiers switched to Atomic boots.

The triumphant performance of the men's alpine ski team: the tenth consecutive victory in the overall World Cup, 14 out of 15 possible medals of the World Championship and World Cup in all disciplines were won. The company also proved itself in cross-country skiing and is gradually gaining popularity among biathletes. In the coming season, Frode Andresen will compete in "Atomics".

The 2006 Olympics: impressive success of the Atomic team

The past Olympics became the most successful in the history of the company from Austrian Altenmarkt. More than 80 athletes from 20 countries competed on equipment manufactured by Atomic and won 35 medals. Moreover, not all of the athletes were sponsored by the company: attentive spectators probably noticed that some athletes competed on the ski slopes not only on the next season's models, as is the case with leading athletes who are provided with the latest developments of the racing department for the starts, but also on the current season's slalom skis - yellow.

Alpine skiers competing on Atomic skis won 11 medals (5 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze). No other brand has achieved such success. But those athletes of the Atomic team who compete in biathlon and cross-country skiing performed very successfully: they won 24 medals (8 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze).

Dr. Michael Schines, President of Atomic Austria GmbH, said: <The Olympic Games in Turin once again confirmed the effectiveness of the innovations that our company uses in the production of sports equipment. The Olympics were also a clear demonstration of the widespread use of Atomic equipment around the world: athletes from 8 countries were able to win medals on our company's skis.

In addition to the truly great success in the alpine skiing disciplines, I am very pleased that our cross-country skiers also achieved extremely impressive results: I am primarily referring to the gold and bronze medals won in one of the most important disciplines - the men's 50 km race. This ratio of medals won on Atomic skis convincingly demonstrates the competence of our specialists and the competitiveness of the equipment.

I would like to thank all the company's employees who made this success possible with their personal efforts.>

Atomic ski boots are also very popular among alpine skiers: about half of the athletes who competed on the Olympic slopes use Atomic boots.
