The French company BABOLAT (BABOLA) was founded in the 19th century as a family business. In 1875, Pierre Babolat was the first in the world to manufacture and patent such products as tennis strings. This happened a year after the foundation of tennis in its modern form. Since then, BABOLAT and TENNIS have been inseparably linked. BABOLAT became the first company specializing in tennis products.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the company released the legendary VS strings - a fusion of experience and advanced technologies of that time. It is impossible to imagine the history of world tennis without the name BABOLAT. Rene Lacoste, Henri Cochet, Donald Budge, Jack Kramer, Rodney Laver, John Newcombe, Bjorn Borg, Yannick Noah, Mats Wilander, Boris Becker, Pete Sampras, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Andy Roddick - they all won using BABOLAT strings. BABOLAT gut (natural) strings are still the unrivaled standard of sensitivity, ball control and tension retention.
In the 50s, BABOLAT was one of the first to release Elascord synthetic strings. At first, production was located at other manufacturers. Over time, synthetic strings, due to their low cost and better wear resistance, became widespread both among professionals and in the sales market around the world. Following these trends, in 1987 BABOLAT opened its own production of synthetic strings in Lyon (France) and since then has offered a wide range of these products. At the beginning of the 21st century, BABOLAT offers a full range of synthetic strings, which are as popular among leading players as natural ones.
BABOLAT has been producing a wide range of related products for over 80 years – grips, overgrips, vibration dampers, string inserts (branded products copied by all manufacturers), weights, wristbands, bandages, protective tapes, medical series, which confirms the company's status as a first-class specialist in tennis, clearly responding to players' requests. BABOLAT grips, overgrips and accessories have been the leader of the Russian market for many years.
In 1981, BABOLAT patented one of the first electronic machines for stringing rackets. This machine (machine) contained in its design a number of very successful technological solutions, which put BABOLAT in undisputed first place in the world.
In 2000, the new series of SENSOR machines confirmed BABOLAT's status as a world leader. BABOLAT produces only high-quality machines for stationary use, which confirms the company's status as a leading specialist in this field. BABOLAT machines are used in more than 300 tournaments a year all over the world. These are the machines that the RUSSIAN TEAM prefers, these are the machines that witnessed the historic victory of the RUSSIAN TEAM in the DAVIS CUP. BABOLAT MACHINES were carried by the stringers of such players as AGASSI, SAMPRAS, etc.
With its vast experience and authority in the world of tennis, BABOLAT decided to apply them to the production of modern tennis rackets.
The first BABOLAT rackets appeared in 1994
In 1997, the Spaniard Carlos Moya reached the final of the Australian OPEN and took a place among the 10 leading tennis players in the world
In 1998, the Spaniard Carlos Moya won the Masters Monte Carlo and Roland GARROS with a BABOLAT racket
In March 1999, he became the world's number one racket
In the 98-99 season, racket sales increased more than 2-fold, and from that moment until now, racket sales have only grown year after year
Today, BABOLAT rackets are already on par with leading companies - they can be seen in the hands of 11 of the 50 best ATP tennis players and 8 of the 50 best WTA TOUR tennis players.
The most famous among men are Andy Roddick, Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal, Ivan Ljubicic, Igor Andreev, Nicolas Massu, Fernando Gonzalez, Alex Corretja, Nicolas Escude, among women - Kim Clijsters, Nadezhda Petrova, Dinara Safina, Anna Smashnova.
12 years ago, BABOLAT chose the strategy of equipping the best juniors in the world - those who will win tomorrow. Many of yesterday's juniors are now stars of the first magnitude (Roby Ginepri, Francesca Schiavone). After only 9 years, this strategy gave a fantastic result: In November 2003, Andy Roddick became the world's number one racket, and Kim Clijsters - number one in the women's ranking. For the first time in history, rackets and strings from one company simultaneously conquered the tennis Olympus.
These facts put BABOLAT among the leading manufacturers June 5, 2005. A historic moment. The Roland Garros final. Rafael Nadal and Mariano Puerta make history. BABOLAT conquers the tennis OLYMPUS again in a new capacity – as a manufacturer of clothing and footwear.
What is the basis for the success of the rackets?
A strong brand. A long history bordering on legend
A competent promotion and advertising policy. “Growing” our own champions, not “buying” players
A number of successful technological solutions that reflect the changes in modern tennis. The creation of an “original” model, “original” technologies that have received worldwide recognition and have been copied by leading manufacturers
Since 1995 BABOLAT has been producing a full range of badminton products. This includes a high-tech sports collection, club, amateur and low-cost rackets, feather and synthetic shuttlecocks, natural and synthetic strings, grips and bags, textiles. The 2004 EUROPEAN Badminton Championships were held with BABOLAT Aeroflex TOUR shuttlecocks.
