The Salomon company was born in France, in the city of Annecy. In 1947, François Salomon, his wife and son Georges decided to found their own company for the production of dust and construction equipment at a family council. On the wave of popularity of skiing, François Salomon tried to expand and increase the range of his products. Already in 1948, a unique system of ski bindings was developed at a small family production - it was called "Meil carres". This invention became decisive in the fate of the company. The invention of a fundamentally new fastening for alpine skis set the vector of development of the company and determined its entire future. The new product was a stunning success. In the 1970s, Salomon became a leader in the production of ski bindings. Children's models of bindings appeared in the range. 1975 - Salomon develops the first automatic ski stop - the Verli brake. Later, ski stops were repeatedly improved, the world was introduced to the Riedel brake integrated into the rear mount with automatic clamping.
In 1980, the company, already known to the entire ski world, released the first Salomon alpine skis. In this direction, the company's designer was also offered a number of revolutionary changes.
In the 1990s, the grip of the boot by the front mount was conceptually changed, this increased the control precision and elasticity of the bindings. In 1994, Salomon introduced the Suspension model with an active platform, characterized by effective vibration damping.
In 2013, the range of Salomon alpine ski models is extremely wide. The company offers skis for any style of skiing and level of training.
Today, SALOMON occupies a leading position in the world market in winter sports. SALOMON is No. 2 in alpine skis (No. 1 excluding the market of cheap skis), as well as No. 1 in alpine bindings and boots.
SALOMON's main goal is to make skiing even more exciting by introducing new technologies that actually work as the developers say. The company invests 5% of its annual turnover in research and registers about 90 patents annually.
